Taking a step further in expanding the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) eye care network, another vision centre was inaugurated at Lepakshi in the Sri Sathya Sai district on June 29, 2026. The centre is connected to the Neelakantapuram Shantha & Jayaram Eye Centre and marks an important step in expanding primary eye care access in the region.
The new facility is the first Vision Centre to be launched under an initiative supported by Seva Foundation, which aims to establish 10 Vision Centres linked to the Neelakantapuram Shantha & Jayaram Eye Centre, Neelakantapuram. With this addition, LVPEI’s extensive community eye care network has now grown to 285 Vision Centres across India.
Located in one of Andhra Pradesh’s most historically significant destinations, Lepakshi is widely known for its Vijayanagara-era heritage and architectural legacy, attracting visitors from across the country. The Vision Centre is housed in a nearly 500-year-old building dating back to the Vijayanagara period, carefully renovated to support healthcare services while preserving its heritage value.

The institute acknowledged the generous support of Sri Veerabhadra Anna Prasadam Seva Trust, which provided the premises rent-free for the centre. LVPEI also expressed gratitude to N Raghu Veera Reddy for facilitating the partnership and playing a key role in securing the space.
The Vision Centre was inaugurated by N Shanta Jayaram, N Raghu Veera Reddy, and Srinivasa Rao.
The new centre will play an important role in bringing quality primary eye care services closer to local communities while further advancing LVPEI’s mission of ensuring eye care access for all, especially in rural and underserved areas.
