We’re happy to share that L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has been awarded the ‘Best Carbon Emissions Reduction Practice Award‘ at the H.E.L.P. Sustainability Excellence Awards 2026, presented by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI).

This recognition celebrates the impact of LVPEI Connect, our teleophthalmology platform that has made quality eye care more accessible to patients across India, without requiring them to travel long distances for a consultation. Beyond the convenience this offers patients, the initiative also means a meaningful reduction in travel-related carbon emissions, aligning healthcare delivery with environmental responsibility.

The numbers speak for themselves, reflecting our continued commitment to bringing eye care closer to the communities that need it most. LVPEI is grateful for this recognition and remains committed to building healthcare solutions that are both patient-centered and environmentally conscious.

The recognition is the result of a collaborative effort by teams across the LVPEI eye care network, with valuable contributions from several members of the institute’s senior leadership, Dr Padmaja Rani, Network Head, Teleophthalmology, Dr Merle Fernandes, Director, Kallam Anji Reddy (KAR) Campus, Hyderabad, Dr Rohit Khanna, Network Director, Public Health Unit at LVPEI’s Gullapalli Pratibha Rao International Centre for Advancement of Rural Eye Care (GPR ICARE), and Dr Pravin Vaddavalli, Network Director, Technology & Communications, and many other who helped shape and strengthen the initiative.
