LVPEI Launches Strabismus Masterclass

On June 2, 2026, L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) launched an online certification course, ‘Strabismus Masterclass’, for residents, faculties, and practicing ophthalmologists. A total of 200 participants joined the online course, with 179 national and 21 international attendees.

The program offers structured weekly online sessions, each dedicated to a focused topic in strabismus diagnosis, evaluation, and management. The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including:

• the fundamentals of strabismus and clinical evaluation
• management of common conditions such as intermittent exotropia and esotropia,
• as well as complex strabismus disorders including Duane Retraction Syndrome, Brown Syndrome, and Congenital Fibrosis of the Extraocular Muscles (CFEOM)

The course will also provide insights into surgical management techniques, including:

• recession-resection procedures
• oblique muscle surgeries
• advanced interventions such as muscle transposition, transplant procedures, Y-split surgeries, loop myopexy
• explore emerging topics in the field of strabismus such as genetics and orbital imaging in strabismus

Through this initiative, LVPEI continues to expand access to ophthalmic education and strengthen capacity-building opportunities for eye care professionals worldwide.
