Andhra Pradesh Residency Program

As part of its Andhra Pradesh (AP) Residency Program, L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) conducted two oculoplasty preceptorship workshops across its Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam campuses.

Kode Venkatadri Chowdary Campus (KVC), Vijayawada: Earlier this week, L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) successfully conducted the Oculoplasty Preceptorship Programme on Ptosis on July 25, 2026. The program was conducted by Dr Sanjana M and Dr Anasua Kapoor, and witnessed an encouraging participation of 21 delegates from various institutions, including Guntur Medical College, Sudarsani Eye Hospital, Sankara Nethralaya Chikitsalaya, Siddhartha Medical College, NRI Medical College, and AIIMS Mangalagiri, along with four in-house first-year fellows.

The primary objective of the program was to provide residents and young ophthalmologists with a comprehensive understanding of ptosis anatomy, evaluation, and surgical planning. The sessions covered relevant surgical anatomy, a live demonstration of ptosis evaluation on a patient, surgical options with video demonstrations, hands-on clinical evaluation of a ptosis patient, and a practical workshop on commonly used oculoplasty instruments, with emphasis on their identification, handling, and viva-oriented discussion.

GMR Varalakshmi (GMRV) Campus, Visakhapatnam: The preceptorship program conducted on July 25, 2026 at GMRV Campus in Visakhapatnam focused on providing a comprehensive understanding of thyroid eye disease which included anatomy, pathophysiology, CT and MRI, medical and surgical management. Led by Dr Suneetha Gavara and Dr Lavanya Maddi, the program witnessed an encouraging participation of 15 delegates from various institutions and in-house fellows.

LVPEI faculty had the privilege of conducting the sessions and interacting closely with participants during the lectures and hands-on training and were encouraged by the enthusiasm and active participation demonstrated throughout the programme.
