Community Eye Health Training Programme

The L V Prasad Eye Institute’s (LVPEI) Mithu Tulsi Chanrai (MTC) campus in Bhubaneswar conducted a two-day community eye health training program on August 13 and 14, 2026 as part of a refresher training program for the members of Project Drishti. With 35 healthcare workers as participants, the program covered various aspects of community eye care, including:

  • Community eye health
  • Cataract care
  • Refractive errors and school eye health
  • Community screening
  • Communication and counselling
  • Community mobilization
  • Documentation and MIS
  • Low-vision care
  • Technology and AI in eye-health programs

The sessions promoted active learning and knowledge application in real-life community eye health scenarios through case discussions, role plays, screening simulations, group activities, camp-planning exercises, AI demonstrations, and problem-solving exercises.

Project Drishti is a community eye health initiative of Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) in collaboration with LVPEI, wherein LVPEI offers support for capacity building through training of healthcare workers across the regions of Jharkhand and Odisha.
