Two members from team LVPEI participated in the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) Prayogshala Connect 2026, conducted at and in collaboration with the JPM Rotary Club of Cuttack Eye Hospital, Cuttack, under the aegis of Odisha State Ophthalmological Society.
The half-day program was dedicated to Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, and Neuro-ophthalmology, and noted a participation of over 100 postgraduate ophthalmology residents.
Dr Vivek Warkad, Consultant Ophthalmologist, delivered:
- a video-assisted surgical transfer (VAST) session titled, ‘Tips and Tricks in Pediatric Cataract Surgery’, focusing on the fundamental surgical aspects of pediatric cataract surgery to build the trainees’ understanding of the procedures.
- a comprehensive lecture on the basics and recent advances in Amblyopia management, and
- a hands-on session demonstrating rectus and oblique muscle surgeries using a squint surgery simulator and advanced strabismus procedures for complex strabismus management

Sony Singh, Consultant Optometrist, conducted a hands-on session on ‘Binocular Vision and Orthoptics Evaluation of Strabismus’, that focused on detecting underlying eye conditions like amblyopia and strabismus through detailed eye examinations.

Speaking about his experience, Dr Warkad said, “It was an excellent opportunity to interact with postgraduate students from various government medical colleges across Odisha and to share knowledge and practical experience in the fields of pediatric cataract, strabismus, and amblyopia. The enthusiastic participation and engaging discussions made the experience both enriching and rewarding for everyone involved.”

Prayogshala Connect
Prayogshala Connect is AIOS’ collaborative framework that partners with regional medical colleges, eye hospitals, and state societies to conduct localized training modules, workshops and continuing medical education (CME). It’s part of Prayogshala, a larger specialized hands-on training, skill transfer, and educational initiative launched by AIOS to advance clinical, diagnostic, and surgical expertise in eye care and bridge the gap in specialized ophthalmic training across India by offering direct mentorship from expert faculty.
