The L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) conducted the second edition of the Myopia Education Program (MEP 2) on August 23 and 30, 2026, as a virtual two-day program focused on strengthening knowledge and skills in myopia management.
Designed for undergraduate optometry students in their third and fourth years, as well as postgraduate students of optometry and ophthalmology, the program provided a structured learning pathway from basic to advanced concepts in myopia management. More than 250 participants took part in the program spanning 21 states across India, along with registrations from Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya.
The program featured 15 lectures, covering the basics to advanced aspects of myopia management, along with interactive question-and-answer sessions.
The Myopia Education Program builds on LVPEI’s continuing efforts to strengthen education in myopia management. The Institute has previously conducted the program as a two-day conference for students of optometry and ophthalmology, with the first edition in 2023 attracting more than 250 participants.
We are committed to building MEP into a meaningful platform for myopia education and capacity building for the next generation of eye care professionals. With the support of the INFOR Myopia Centres, consultants across the network, and our myopia research team, MEP 2 marks another important step forward in this journey.Â
Through programs such as MEP 2, LVPEI’s Standard Chartered-LVPEI Academy for Eye Care Education continues to provide specialized learning opportunities for the next generation of eye-care professionals, with education and training forming a central part of the Institute’s work.
