The L V Prasad Eye Institute’s (LVPEI) GMR Varalakshmi (GMRV) Campus in Visakhapatnam completed the twelfth edition of ‘Looking Beyond the Eye’, one of LVPEI’s flagship annual conferences under the guidance of Dr Avinash Pathengay and Dr Virender Sachdeva.

The conference brought together ocular and systemic pathology faculty from across the country, along with representation from four LVPEI campuses.
The meeting was conceived as a continuation of the ’Looking Beyond the Eye’ philosophy—moving beyond an organ-based approach and creating meaningful ocular-systemic correlations. This year, we took the idea a step further through uniquely designed clinico-pathological correlation sessions, bringing together clinical presentation, imaging, pathology, immunohistochemistry and systemic disease around individual cases.

The academic discussions culminated in a consolidation of key clinical, pathological, and systemic insights from the case discussions and reaffirmed the importance of translating findings in order to improve the quality of patient care. Another major highlight of the program was the first in-person Tumor Board meeting at the LVPEI GMRV campus. The meeting saw participation from ophthalmologists, oncologists, and pathologists who came together to engage in multidisciplinary discussions.
Talking about their experience, one of the attendees said, “I thank the entire LVPEI team for hosting this meeting that focused on bridging ocular pathology with clinical practice. It was a great concept that was perfectly executed.” Another attendee added, “I would especially like to acknowledge Prof Geetha K Vemuganti in making the meeting enriching. I look forward to staying connected and taking these discussions further.”
