Biography
Dr Tarjani Vivek Dave is an accomplished ophthalmic plastic, orbital and reconstructive surgeon at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. She serves as Associate Director of the Kallam Anji Reddy Campus and leads its Quality and Ocularistry programmes. Her work brings together complex clinical care, surgical innovation, translational research, education and institutional leadership.
Her clinical practice encompasses thyroid eye disease, orbital infections and tumours, orbital trauma and fractures, vascular malformations, aesthetic eyelid surgery, eyelid disorders, complex socket reconstruction, congenital anophthalmia and ocular and orbitofacial prosthetic rehabilitation. She has particular expertise in managing challenging orbital and socket conditions that require coordinated care across ophthalmology, endocrinology, radiology, pathology, ENT, neurosurgery, oncology and prosthetic rehabilitation.
Dr Dave has played a key role in advancing ocularistry and orbital reconstruction at LVPEI. Under her leadership, the Ocular Prosthesis Laboratory has expanded its clinical capacity and incorporated innovations such as digital iris printing and three-dimensional printing. Her work has also involved orbital tissue expansion for congenital anophthalmia, osseointegrated prosthetic rehabilitation, customised three-dimensional implants and patient-specific solutions for orbital and socket reconstruction.
Her research is closely aligned with the future of precision orbital medicine. Major areas of investigation include molecular and imaging-based characterisation of thyroid eye disease, tear biomarkers and proteomics, imaging-guided management of rhino-orbital-cerebral mucormycosis, orbit-preserving treatment strategies, sclerotherapy for orbital vascular malformations, osseointegrated implants and patient-specific implants for secondary orbital reconstruction.
An active academician and educator, Dr Dave has authored more than 90 indexed peer-reviewed publications and 35 book chapters. She has mentored 77 national and eight international long-term fellows and has delivered more than 285 podium presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
She serves as Section Editor for Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery for the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and as Associate Editor for Oculoplastics, Orbit and Trauma for Frontiers in Ophthalmology. Her professional leadership roles include participation in the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology’s Leadership Development Committee and the Oculoplastics Association of India.
Through her clinical, academic and administrative work, Dr Dave is committed to developing orbital care that is multidisciplinary, evidence-driven, innovative and centred on restoring not only vision and function, but also appearance, confidence and quality of life.
