The 62nd Indian Contact Lens Education Program (ICLEP) wrapped up at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI)’s Kallam Anji Reddy (KAR) campus in Hyderabad. Over three days, from July 10 – 12, 2026, optometry students, practicing optometrists, ophthalmologists, and ophthalmology fellows gathered to dive into the latest research, evolving technologies, and patient-first care.
The event drew a total of 170 participants, with over 150 delegates spanning seventeen Indian states, alongside delegates from Singapore and Bangladesh, sharing the same space to learn from top-tier faculty and exchange real-world clinical knowledge.
Cutting-Edge Science Meets Daily Practice
The scientific program featured 21 renowned national and international faculty members covering multiple aspects of modern contact lens practice. Sessions spanned everything from soft and rigid gas permeable lenses to orthokeratology and scleral lenses. Attendees also explored critical topics like myopia management, ocular surface health, specialty lens fitting, and clinical decision-making. The event kept the energy high with interactive panel discussions, case-based learning sessions, live demonstrations, free paper presentations, and quizzes. The program aimed to bridge the gap between bench research and every day patient care.
A major highlight was a series of sessions delivered by Prof Mark Willcox from Sydney, who shared:
- the latest evidence on managing contact lens discomfort and dry eye
- research on the safety and efficacy of orthokeratology on human and animal models
What truly made this program a success was the collaborative environment fostered among participants and the LVPEI members alike. Now, with the success of the 62nd edition, ICLEP continues its legacy of inspiring clinical excellence, building professional community, and promoting lifelong learning in the field of contact lens practice.
