Our eyes may be the window the world, but it’s our brains that help us truly “see”.
Vision is far more complex than just capturing light. It’s visual data that is processed by our brain in seconds. In fact, studies have also shown that the relationship between cognitive health and vision becomes particularly evident as we age, especially in patients with conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, where the vision difficulties cannot be explained by changes in eye structure alone.
L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI)’s Eye and Brain Centre was inaugurated in April 2026 to explore this connection and address the critically unexplored area of eye-brain health. Taking a step further, as part of the Eye and Brain Centre, the Adult & Child Neurology Clinic commenced at the Kallam Anji Reddy (KAR) Campus in Hyderabad on June 19, 2026.
This clinic is a step towards further strengthening LVPEI’s vision for multidisciplinary healthcare, and creating a more integrated approach to eye and brain health. The clinic represents LVPEI’s growing focus on collaborative care, bringing together specialists and experts across disciplines to better understand and manage conditions where vision and neurological health are closely interconnected.

Dr Lokesh Lingappa, a well-known pediatric neurologist, is also part of the newly commenced clinic and will play a key role in advancing this specialized area of care. LVPEI will also be collaborating with other institutes and specialists, recognising that complex conditions require expertise that goes beyond a single discipline.
Marking the beginning of this initiative, a 90-minute collaborative clinic was conducted for detailed case discussions, with ophthalmologists and neurologists working through cases together, in real time, combining their expertise on the spot for each patient. The session created a space for collective learning while enabling specialists to evaluate cases through a more comprehensive, multidisciplinary lens.
By bringing together diverse expertise under one ecosystem, the Eye and Brain Centre at LVPEI is steadily building a model of care where clinical excellence, collaboration, and patient care converge and redefine how specialized healthcare is delivered for conditions involving both vision and brain health.
