On August 1, 2026, 25 volunteers from D E Shaw and Co participated in a day of creativity at the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) Kallam Anji Reddy (KAR) Campus, Hyderabad. The visit lasted for an entire day with the first half of the visit consisted of an art workshop for LVPEI’s visually impaired clients. Volunteers were paired in groups of 5 and 6 with the clients for a tactile art workshop. Facilitated by well-renowned Rehabilitation Counsellor and 3D blind artist, Ms Aishwarya Pillai, the volunteers supported our clients in understanding and working with different components of the artwork. By the end of the session, six artboards had been created collaboratively.

The second half of the visit saw the volunteers participating in an interactive session with LVPEI’s technological teams including Centre for Technology and Innovation (CFTI) and the Information Systems Department (ISD). An upskilling session, the focus was on effective communication, team building, and professional development. The volunteers shared their own insights and experience with the team.

D E Shaw & Co is a partner of LVPEI and supports the recently inaugurated Eye and Brain Centre at the KAR Campus. This engagement was a part of their annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, as a way to support LVPEI’s work through volunteering.
