Two-Day Binocular Vision Workshop Held at GMRV Campus

A two-day workshop on Binocular Vision was organised at L V Prasad Eye Institute’s (LVPEI) GMR Varalakshmi (GMRV) Campus in Visakhapatnam on September 23 – 24, 2026, led by Dr PremNandhini. It was designed for a core group of six participants.
The workshop combined classroom teaching with hands-on learning. Participants worked directly with patients visiting the Binocular Vision and Orthoptics clinic, so they could see how the concepts covered in class apply in everyday practice.
Sessions covered several clinical topics, which were discussed and demonstrated, including:
- Prism trials for traumatic superior oblique palsy
- Management techniques for spasm of near reflex
- Vision therapy for binocular vision disorders such as divergence excess
The core group also spent time with the GMRV optometry team and interns. These exchanges focused on the role of binocular vision services in comprehensive patient care. By combining structured teaching with live clinical exposure, the workshop provided a practical understanding of the assessment and management of binocular vision conditions.
