The Mithu Tulsi Chanrai (MTC) Campus in Bhubaneswar conducted an in-house workshop on Binocular Vision from June 8 – 10, 2026, for approximately 30 optometrists and faculty across the LVPEI network. The three-day workshop focused on the diagnosis and management of binocular vision disorders, combining lectures with hands-on clinical training, case discussions, and direct patient evaluation.
Led by Dr Premnandhini Satgunam and the Orthoptics Clinic team, the workshop covered a range of conditions including, hypermetropia, accomodative spasm, accommodative and convergence insufficiency, and Acute Acquired Comitant Esotropia (AACE) among others. Participants assessed binocular and orthoptic cases with an emphasis on clinical assessment techniques and evidence-based management.

A notable composition of the workshop was the fitting and application of the Peli Prisms on patients with visual field defects. A trial conducted on a patient with right homonymous hemianopia resulted in significant improvement in mobility.

Sessions on BaVis (Brain Vision Screening) introduced participants to objective vision assessment in children with cerebral visual impairment (CVI), with a focus on neuro-ophthalmic conditions.

Academic sessions further addressed clinical audit practices, spectacle prescription guidelines for children with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). The sessions also shed light on less common conditions like Visual Snow Syndrome and Charles Bonnet Syndrome.
