Special Needs Vision Clinic
The Special Needs Vision Clinic provides functional vision assessment, appropriate devices and vision-related interventions for children and adults with cerebral visual impairment, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, autism, down syndrome and other special needs.
The clinic takes a multidisciplinary approach to understand how an individual uses vision and provides appropriate clinical and therapeutic support. It includes comprehensive functional vision assessment, low vision services and individualised vision rehabilitation for people with conditions such as Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, autism, developmental delays and other neurological or developmental conditions.
Based on individual needs, specialised interventions may include Sanet Vision Integrator (SVI) therapy, computer perception therapy and Vision Nanny, along with other structured visual activities and therapeutic approaches. These interventions are used to support visual attention, visual processing, visual perception and functional use of vision.
The clinic also provides special education, physiotherapy, speech and communication support and sensory-motor interventions, where required, through an integrated approach.
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the rehabilitation process. We provide counselling, training and practical guidance to help families understand their child’s visual needs and continue appropriate strategies at home and in learning environments.
The aim is to understand each individual’s visual potential, strengthen functional vision and support participation, learning and independence.
