Livelihood Skills Training
A three-month structured training program for individuals with vision loss is available, for individuals who seek economic independence but are unable to seek formal employment, because of educational limitations, or who prefer to work within a family or community setting.
Vocational and livelihood training is provided in tailoring, making of paper bags, candles, home décor, jewellery, jute and cloth products. Support is also provided to source raw materials, for product development and marketing.
Based on the trainee’s functional vision, abilities, interests and goals, we provide practical training in two or more suitable trades – tailoring, making of paper bags, candles, home décor, jewellery, jute and cloth products or other livelihood activities.
Family members are encouraged to learn alongside the trainee, to create a supportive and sustainable livelihood. Follow-up guidance and support is also provided to help establish the chosen trade and strengthen income-generating opportunities.
Limited accommodation is available during the training period, subject to availability.
